Back in October 2019, I was announced the 'Outstanding Beauty Professional of the Year' by The Midlands Beauty Industry Awards. Early this year I received an email to say that I was a finalist in the Official Makeup Awards as 'Freelance Makeup Artist of the Year' due to the amount of votes I received from my followers and clients. The Official Makeup Awards and The Midlands Beauty Industry Awards are events both run by Creative Oceanic. This competition was much bigger as it included Makeup Artists from all over the UK.
As a finalist, I had to submit evidence such as client testimonials, a bit about my business, previous awards and highlights and images from my portfolio for the judges to look at. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, the event being held in Manchester was understandably cancelled.
On Wednesday 20th May 2020, the Creative Oceanic team held the awards ceremony on their Facebook page and announced the winners within their categories as regional, overall and highly commended. I'm not going to lie, myself and mom decided to get dressed up for the occasion (minus my crocs). For the West Midlands region, I was up against 10 other talented individuals which admittedly did make me a little nervous, but also pretty damn proud of myself. Much to my surprise, last night I was awarded West Midlands 'Freelance Makeup Artist of the Year'. You can see their full winner announcement on their website.
On that note, I would like to say thank you to each and every one of you that have supported me over these last couple of years (nearly 2 years!) and I can't wait until I can be back to doing makeup again!
