In this blog post I am going to go through different methods of eyelash applications and enhancements and the added benefits of having them for your special day. I have tried to include examples where I can.
1-Day Lashes (my preferred method)
Eyelashes make such a big difference to the eye by enhancing the natural lashes. They pull the whole look together.
When I apply them to my clients, I apply the same length lash as their natural lash so not to look false and fake looking. Individual 1-day lashes, which is a popular method used by Makeup Artists, are applied by the same lash glue you would use to apply a strip lash - I like to use a latex free glue. They are applied after the eye makeup is completed and can be tailored to suit the clients eye shape and goal. Cat-eye lash? Apply more towards the outer edge. Wipsy lash? Apply different lengths throughout. Lashes can be removed easily at the end of the day/night. BLAH BLAH BLAH.
P.S. Don't sleep in them as you'll wake up thinking there are spiders legs over your pillow!
Strip Lashes
These are great for those that are used to wearing strip lashes as if you are not, they may feel heavy or make you aware that you are wearing them. Not only that but 9 times out of 10, a lash wearer will have some glue with them just in case it peels up in the inner corner. There are all kinds of styles, as well as half-lashes and natural lashes. I would only use these if they are requested or if the person is used to having a fuller lash.
LVL / Lash Lift and Tint
Lash lift and tints are great for those that are not wanting lashes but would like to give the lash a beautiful upright curl. The only thing I will say is that if you have an LVL already, strip or individual lashes will not be able to be applied due to your lashes being so upright.
Professional Individual Lash Extensions
These are absolutely fine for Makeup Artists to work with as long as they are cared for and cleaned properly. Great for those who prefer the look of a strip lash but would like them to be more of a permanent option (they won't budge on the day). Lash extensions can be as natural or as full as you want as they are tailored to the look you are going for.
No Lashes
No problem, simple as! We will curl your lashes with a lash curler and apply a few coats of waterproof mascara. I usually like to give the client a disposable brush with mascara on so they can really get in the lash up to the root. I would however suggest, if you are comfortable to, to try 1-day lashes with your Makeup Artist at your trial so that you can see what they look like and if you like/dislike them.
Are you an emotional person or have watery eyes?
If the answer is yes, I do not recommend strip lashes.
Remember that if you are planning to have one of these on the day of your event or wedding, get them done at the trial too so you can see the finished result (e.g. LVL at the trial, individual extensions at the trial).
