When Should You Book Your Bridal Makeup Artist? (And Why Waiting Can Cost You)

If you’ve just got engaged, congratulations!

Between venue visits, dress shopping, and creating the Pinterest board of dreams, makeup might not feel like the top priority right now.

But here’s a little insider secret from a bridal artist who’s been there hundreds of times: your favourite suppliers get booked up fast - and yes, that includes makeup artists.

My brides usually book 12–18 months in advance, and a few popular 2027 dates are already gone (wild, I know!). So, if you’re reading this and your wedding is next year… now is the time to secure your date.

The Ideal Time to Book Your Bridal Makeup Artist

Most of my brides book 12–18 months ahead - roughly the same time they’re confirming their photographer and hair stylist.

Here’s a simple guide:

  • 18+ months – Perfect if you’re getting married in peak season (April–September). You’ll have first pick of your dream suppliers.

  • 12 months – Still great! There’s usually some flexibility, but don’t hang about too long.

  • 6–9 months – You might need to be open to weekdays or off-peak months.

  • Under 6 months – Don’t panic. I always try to fit in last-minute weddings if I can (especially weekdays), but the diary does fill fast.

Why It Pays to Book Early

Booking early isn’t just about ticking a box. It gives you:

  1. Peace of mind - You can relax knowing your date is safe.

  2. Your trial booked in advance - So you can plan your look alongside your hair, dress, and flowers.

  3. Budget control - You lock in current prices before any potential increases.

  4. A stress-free run-up - No last-minute scrambling to find someone available.

Basically: the earlier you book, the calmer future-you will be.

What If You're Getting Married Sooner?

If you’re planning an early 2026 wedding, don’t be afraid to enquire. I still have some availability for early months of 2026 and I’ll always do my best to help if your date’s free.

Even if I’m booked, I can often recommend trusted artists with a similar soft, natural style.

Final Thoughts

Your wedding makeup should feel like you - just elevated.

Booking early means we can take our time perfecting your look, planning your morning timeline, and ensuring you feel completely at ease when you sit in my chair.

So if you’re newly engaged and thinking, “I’ve got loads of time…” - pop me a message now. Your 2026 or 2027 self will thank you for it.
